Senate keeps $25M for F1 Austin
Funding was in jeopardy during budget crunch
AUSTIN (KXAN) - In the process of paying for a shortfall in the current budget, Formula 1Austin raced through the finish line with no time to spare. A $25 million funding boost to F1 survived a last-minute amendment to HB 4 meant to strip the racing event of that money.
Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston, proposed the amendment, but it was defeated. The F1 money came from the state's Major Events Trust Fund meant to attract and retain events of this caliber in Texas.
HB 4, the supplemental spending bill, also passed the Senate, paying the state's bills for the current year.
The Texas locals were so happy to get their MotoGP track, complete with Sanctuary Cities for illegal aliens and TSA gaterape, under threat of No Fly Zone from DOJ and Dictator Hussein Obama Soetoro Whatever...
